Caitlin Gets a Mission Call
I opened my mission call while I was working at a fish processing plant in Dillingham, Alaska on June 12th, 2017. My mom managed to scan a copy of my call and e-mail it to me without looking at it so that I could be the first to know. Unfortunately, there is no wi-fi or cell data in that desolate Alaskan town, except in a tiny old library. My cousin and I used our lunch break to rush up to the library, get a wi-fi ticket, and attempt to video the opening of my call. The wi-fi was very unreliable and the live video plan plummeted (I formally apologize to all of you who were watching the video only for it to freeze and end), but I was able to get to my e-mail and download my call. You would think a list of places I could possibly be called would be running through my mind; however, I had only one thought, The Lord will send me where he needs me and it'll all work out. I had absolutely zero idea of where I would go.
"Dear Sister Bingham,
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.
You should prepare to report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Hiligaynon language."
You can see my reaction in the video. We were in a library so I had to be really quiet. I am so excited to serve the people of the Philippines!
