Week 27 (Binalbagan)

Maayong hapon!

Time just flies so fast! So this week we had a baptism planned for Sister Jojo but she was really really busy with her children's graduation and their fiesta so we moved it to this Saturday. We visited them and got to see her oldest daughter, Nicole, in her graduation gown. She was the 1st princess in their school's program and another member was 4th princess so they had makeup and were super dressed up. Super cute!

I ate dinuguan this week. That basically means pig blood as a rice topping. It wasn't too bad....
Some kids threw rocks at me and my companion this week so that was cool too.

My favorite new investigator is a 15 year old boy named Joshua. He's a little shy, especially of me cause I'm the foreigner but is very kind and not a dungol. His friends are members and the first time we invited him to church he came and learned a lot and had a great experience. At our last lesson with him, I started to ask "sinn-o ang..." or "who is..." but before I could finish he said Prophet Russel M. Nelson. I was like wow I wasn't even sure what my question was yet but that's great! I'm excited to teach him about the Book of Mormon this week!

Yesterday, my companion and I were asked to speak in sacrament with little to no preparation. I was super nervous about what to say and how to say it and if people would understand me but I prayed really hard for guidance. I surprised everyone I think, including myself, when my talk was longer than that of my companions and the other speaker (not crazy long just like 10 min instead of 5min). Bishop told me that hearing me speak, you'd never guess this is only my first area, so I felt very good about my Ilonggo after that.

Something funny that happened: group of 12 year old girls trailing behind us, one of them got up the courage to ask "what's your name?" in English. I replied "ako si sister bingham! ano pangalan nyo?" (I'm sister bingham, what's your name?) and then she stopped walking, looked really startled, and ran away. I felt a little bad but it was really funny.

Palangga ta kamo!

P day pictures: we went to this place in the elders area with some sisters from aguisan ward and had a nice riverside picnic and climbed a small mountain? a hill? and took lots of pictures

  1. This is Brian Mantel. I had pigs blood pudding/jello in China. I'm really not a fan of it, but I'm glad you were able to eat it. 😆 . I'm really proud of how you have adapted and are helping people. I hope the rock throwers aren't trying to seriously injure you. Stay safe!
