Week 73 (Bacolod)

Maayong aga!!!

Today was transfer day. This marks the beginning of my last transfer in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. I can't believe that is even possible!?! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY. So I try to not think about the end. I am so ready to keep giving my all, 100%, every day. To run THROUGH the line as our training said two transfers ago. I've been pondering a lot on the things I've learned and who I've become and how my relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ has become stronger and closer. There is nothing I can say or type or even write in my journal to explain the feelings of my heart and the thoughts of my mind to answer those questions. All I can say is summed up by the words I heard from one of my MTC teachers, Brother Mariano, "My mission is sacred to me." I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. The bad days and the good days. I look forward to the work God has for me in these last 6 weeks.

We had MLC (Missionary Leadership Council) on Wednesday and received more great training from President and Sister Sumagpao and from the Assistants to the President. There were some good jokes made, laughs shared.

Here's a story about a good lesson we had this week. We've been teaching this lady named Sylvette but she goes by Gamay (which means small in Ilonggo). Her husband was taught in 1983 by elders but never got baptized though he was scheduled to. Saturday was the third time that we've been able to teach them both. We had this great lesson planned about the gospel and to extend them a baptismal date. However, when we arrived and started asking about how they were, they opened up to us about a problem they are having with their children (who are all adults now with families of their own). We have never been parents and don't have personal experience with this kind of situation. But we decided we would switch our lesson to reading a story from the Book of Mormon to help them know what to do to help their family. I first thought about Lehi and Laman and Lemuel but then decided that one didn't turn out so well...The Spirit brought to my mind the story of Alma and his son, Alma the Younger. We opened up to Mosiah 27 and went back and forth reading and discussing the story and what Alma did to help his son. It was an amazing lesson and the Spirit was so strong! Brother Danelo commented towards the end of the discussion, that one of the reasons we read the Book of Mormon is because they have problems similar to ours and so we can know how to solve our problems by studying the Book of Mormon! I was so excited for them because they got it! Ah, I love them. I can't wait for them to continue to learn and love the gospel.

I LOVE THE GOSPEL. I just love my Savior Jesus Christ and this time I have to fully serve Him. And His Church. I wish I could send through e-mail the feelings I have. You'll just have to find it for yourselves :)

Palangga ta kamo! (Love you all!)

You know that talk by Elder Bednar talking about types of revelation, here's my thought in relation to missions:
The "Lightbulb revelation" is what we receive in the MTC. It's the light switch from being a normal person to being a set apart servant of the Lord
The "Sunrise revelation" is what we receive throughout our whole mission. It's the change not just in our behavior, but in our nature.
