Week 78 (Bacolod) 1 Week Left (letter only)
Maayong aga sa inyo!
BUSY BUSY BUSY. Time flies when you're having fun and have lots to do. It helps to not think about the approaching end.
We had two exchanges this week and a baptismal interview.
I worked with Sister Tabelisma in my area. She loved meeting with Dan and Gamay as we talked about the plan of salvation. She said she felt the Spirit so strong she almost was crying. Before we had even started the lesson, Dan said he was reading and he saw in 1 Nephi 6 that Nephi said he was writing to persuade others to come unto God and be saved. He asked how are we saved? I said perfect timing Brother because we are going to talk about God's plan for our salvation, and for our happiness.
Also, at their interview Saturday night, our District Leader (who was previously assigned in the area that borders ours) realized he had met Dan and Gamay before! At that time, he gave Gamay a Book of Mormon, but Dan and Gamay didn't give them the time of day. We learned that lots of missionaries have been brought to them but they rejected them all until Sister Clarke and I met them, and Sister Schenk and I continued to teach them. Gamay said maybe she and Dan just needed us for their hearts to be softened. God has perfect timing and a perfect plan. I love them so much and am so so excited for Saturday!
I went to Silay East for the first time with Sister Sta. Barbara. I saw the ocean for the first time in 6 months and it was even at sunset. And they had a dinner appointment that night so we got to eat some good Filipino food, sinigang bangus, like fish in soup that you pour on your rice. Delicious!
Saturday morning the power went out and we thought we were all going to die because it was so hot and the fans wouldn't work. We couldn't even take a shower because our water is connected to the electricity. Or flush the toliets.... Or wash the dishes. It was very stressful but we survived.
The funniest quote of the week goes to Danelo. We were cleaning the church with Dan and Gamay and Brother Javier. And while Sister Schenk was cleaning the baptismal font and then Dan says, this isn't translated, it was said in English, "You are invited to my baptism on March 23. After my baptism, we will eat my house. I will kill 6 chickens, 5 boy, 1 girl." It was so funny, we were all laughing.
President Sumagpao's daughter and son-in law came with us on Friday to visit Sister Jonavie. We read from Alma 36 and talked about repentance as well as missionary work. It was so fun! They even had their 6 month old baby and Sister Jonavie had her 6 month old niece. They became fast friends :)
Palangga ta kamo! Love you guys! See you soon!
Sister Bingham
