Week 12 (Binalbagan)

Maayong aga!

So this week was full of meetings. On Tuesday, Sister Soriano went to the Sister Training Leader and Zone Leader meeting in Bacolod. She's the only STL in our zone so I went with her to Bacolod and proselyted with Sister Aiono and Sister Burkhardt for the day! It was cool to see a new area and how another training companionship works. We finished the day with ice cream so you know it was a good day.

On Wednesday we had a meeting with the Zone Leaders to plan the zone meeting for the next day. I helped Sister Soriano with her training but it was kind of funny cause I'm definitely not a sister training leader and I've only been here for a month....Everyone enjoyed joking about that :P

We had FHE at a members home one night. It was lots of fun and we laughed a lot. One of the elders taught about the importance of marriage in the temple, and then we played a game. Whoever lost the game was subject to getting lipstick on their face. (Picture included) Poor Brother Devi lost twice and had lots of lipstick marks on his face.

So this week, we were hoping to baptize 9 year old Claudi who is super smart and has a strong desire to follow Christ and be baptized. Unfortunately, when we called her father, who is away at work, for permission, he said no. But he was very kind about it and thanked us for teaching about Christ. Our goal now is to teach them all when he comes home for Christmas and hopefully show him the light of the gospel. We were a little disappointed but determined to keep moving forward. And that Saturday turned out to be a really awesome teaching day.

So we have a companionship motto now. Take courage and be positive. Take courage comes from Alma 58:12. These scriptures helped me again this week when I felt like hiding away from everything. I read in verse 10, "we did pour out our souls in prayer to God" so that's what I did. In verse 11, "He did speak peace to our souls and did grant unto us great faith and did cause that we should hope for our deliverance in Him". Verse 12 says they took courage, and verse 13 says they did go forth with all their might. So that's what I did and I was able to change my attitude and the rest of the day went so much better. Remembering to be positive is obviously important. We were waiting for our food at a place in Bacolod and it was taking a really long time and Sister Soriano was really hungry and it began to bother her. So I pulled out my pen and paper and we went back and forth writing down things we were thankful for in that moment. It really helped us to have patience and stay positive. I tried to make a sign but it's really ugly so my apologies.

Palangga ta kamo! Take courage and be positive!
