Week 13 (Binalbagan)

Maayong aga sa tanan!

This week certainly taught me that miracles really do come after the trial of our faith.

We met Brother Efren, 57 years old, a while ago because we were teaching his sister and brother in law about the Book of Mormon. After the lesson, we learned that his daughter and her husband are members of the church in Manila and he's been going to church with them until he left to come here to Binalbagan. So of course, we invited him to church and asked to teach him. When we taught the plan of salvation he had questions about where we go after this life and said he wanted to join a religion where it was clear. After the lesson, he said it was all clear to him now. It was so hard because some days we could never find him!! We spent the day before his baptismal interview on a wild goose chase: asking people where he was, walking there only to find that he had just left that area, and so on. The next day, however, we were able to find him and he was interviewed for baptism. He was so excited to be baptized and when Saturday came I could feel his strong desire and willingness to follow Christ. On Sunday, we waited outside the church for him and waited....and waited. I told Heavenly Father that I had faith this would all work out according to his will and I would not become discouraged. We started to head to Relief Society when we heard a tricycle pull in to the parking lot and there was Brother Efren ready to receive the Holy Ghost! We were so relieved. I am super excited for him and hope he continues to be strong so that he can one day he may be sealed to his children and be with them for eternity.

So in the pictures, I attempted to make pancakes, and then macaroni & cheese. It was sooo good and I was quite proud of myself. The other pictures of us and a group of kids is our adventure to find Brother Efren.

Oh I almost forgot. A typhoon just passed through. The center of it was further north so we just ended up with a lot of rain and it was cooler. Everyone was cold but it was 77 degrees.... I thought it was awesome!

I hope you are all doing well and lighting up the world!! Christmas is just a week away and I am super excited! We got to watch the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional yesterday and I really felt the truth in the 2nd talk about Christmas as a new missionary. I definitely can't speak very well but I love these people and hopefully that is enough for now. Never forget that our Father in Heaven and our Savior Jesus Christ love you, and they love your neighbor, and they love that person who manages to always get on your nerves. It becomes much easier to love those around us when you recognize them as children of our Heavenly Father, our spiritual brothers and sisters, and see their divine potential. I love you all so much and always appreciate your support! Thank you thank you!
