Week 16 (Binalbagan)
Kamusta kamo?!
Sister Soriano had another meeting this week so we traveled to Bacolod on Monday. It was also transfer day so there were lots of missionaries in Bacolod. Unfortunately, I still haven't seen my MTC companion Sister Hostetter! I miss her so much! I did get to see Sister Burkhardt, Elder Keller, and Elder Yancey and have a quick catch up with them. They're doing well and I was so happy to see them!!
Our district leader and fellow elder in Binalbagan Ward (in this ward we have sisters and elders), Elder Heywood, was transferred to the other end of the island, where it's basically just mountains. From that transfer day (Monday), he would not actually get to his area until Thursday because in order to attend district meeting he has to stay with other elders in his district because of the lack of transportation in the mountains. Also, on P day they have to get up at 3:00AM in order to catch transportation down to where the market and stores are. Crazy right? I'm grateful to be in Binalbagan where it's super beautiful and we live close to the little town and market.
While Sister Soriano was at her meeting, Sister Ferolino (her companion is now the other STL of our zone) and I proselyted in her area, Pontevedre (see pictures). It was super fun to be in a new area and meet their investigators. We taught a sister who speaks Ilocano (Sister Ferolino's companion who got transferred last Monday speaks Ilocano) and some Tagalog and little Ilonggo. But Sister Ferolino speaks Ilonggo and some Tagalog. And I speak English and some Ilonggo. When Sister Ferolino turned to me, I said I didn't understand most of what was being said but I felt the Spirit and before I could say more, the sister said she felt it too and she knew that even though the three of us come from different places, the language of the Spirit is universal to us all. I wish I had better words to describe the feeling that was there. It was my favorite spiritual experience of the week.
We had a zone meeting this week as well to meet our new zone and afterwards had lunch together. I learned a lot from the training and it was super fun to play some get to know you games and eat and talk together. We hope to become a stronger zone this transfer!
Last night we had dinner at one the home of one of the members of the stake presidency. It was super delicious and then we had a mini FHE where he and his wife (both RMS) talked to us about the importance of focusing on your mission and using it to help others of course but also using it as a time to learn about yourself and prepare yourself for your future mission (callings in the church, having a family, etc). I really needed to hear it and I appreciated that they watched me for when I looked confused so they could re-explain in English). Also, their grandson who is maybe 5 or 6 years old was playing with us and was super adorable. But when he laughed, I kid you not, my heart died. It was the cutest little kid laugh I have ever heard in my entire life. And that's saying a lot because I have heard many adorable kids laughs. I was so surprised by it and then everyone ended up laughing because they found my reaction funny. It was an uplifting evening spiritually and emotionally.
Don't forget to pray daily! Your Father in Heaven wants you to talk with him so He can help you! Palangga ta kamo!
