Maayong aga sa tanan!
Exciting news! Brother Eman, 14 years old, has finally come to the simbahan and received the gift of the Holy Ghost! He was baptized the last week of December and he wasn't confirmed the following Sunday because he waited an entire hour at the market for us, 7-8am, but we had told him to go there at 8:30am. The following Sundays he was either gone or refused to even speak to us and we could not figure out what had happened! We were a little frustrated and distressed but we never gave up. We continued to have hope and pray for Eman and yesterday he was excited to come to church and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, so I am very happy for him! The youth invited him to youth conference in March and he really wants to go. I hope this enthusiasm sticks and that he continues to be strong.
Breaking news! On Thursday, President pulled a wild card and transferred a bunch of missionaries, including our District Leader and Zone Leader (who had been in our zone for 9 months)! It was a little crazy but we're excited to meet our new leaders this week.
More news! Yesterday, Bishop came to our special Nabuswang sacrament meeting along with his counselors and a representative from the Relief Society presidency. It was super awesome to have their support for the members and investigators that are so far from the church. I'M USING CAPS NOW FOR MY REALLY REALLY EXCITED VOICE. BROTHER LORICO, the father of 3 recent converts who are really strong in their testimonies, FINALLY CAME TO CHURCH AND EVEN MET BISHOP! It was like the stars aligned. He has attended many churches but never felt the desire to be baptized. But he has a strong desire to be baptized, he just always has work and hasn't been able to attend church. I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM.
Funny news! So yesterday, Elder Cabato, Elder Bagante, Jayjay (just turned 18, working on mission papers, works with the elders), Sister Soriano, and I had dinner at a members house. They taught me beautiful in Tagalog is pangit. So it went like this. Jayjay: "Say pangit" Me: "Pangit" "Very good, now what is Sister Soriano?" Me: "Pangit!" *Everyone laughs* Me: "What?" Jayjay: "They are laughing because you are saying it wrong. Pangit" Me, confused: "Pangit?" Later Sister Soriano informed me that pangit is in fact ugly not beautiful....I apologized greatly and am quietly planning my retaliation.
Love you all! Thank you for your prayers! Read the Book of Mormon! It's my favorite book! No joke!
