Week 42 (Cauayan)

Maayong udto!

Lots happened and I never have as much time as I want to but here are some highlights:

Sister Jenifer was baptized yesterday! She was the girl weeks ago who approached me and asked if we were Mormons and expressed a desire to learn and become a member of our church. She has a really busy work schedule so we struggled to find times where she was available and for her to attend church. But she put Christ first and asked for permission to leave work in order to go to church. There were so many trials and things we had to overcome and things she had to overcome so that her baptism could go through but through our faith and diligence and the help of the Spirit, it all worked out! My testimony of prayer and fasting has grown tremendously!

Funny story: Sunday morning we walked out of the house then Sister Nanlabi realized she left the key in the house. Thing is that key is how we unlock the gate to our house so we were trapped between the house and our gate.....We panicked for a sec but we pulled the credit card trick and the door opened and we were fine. But I was laughing cause Sister Nanlabi was like we can't miss Jenifer's baptism maybe we should just jump the fence. What a sight that would be. Two sister missionaries climbing over their gate and fence

Joepel, JM, GL that were baptized in May and June are like my favorite people because they are great examples of being a light on a hill. This week we went to go teach them but they were taking a bath in the ocean so we taught them and some of their friends on the beach. Then this man came and sat behind the kids and listened. We talked to him after the lesson and gave him a pamphlet and he said he'd like to come to church. Sister Nanlabi and I went and washed the sand off our shoes in the ocean and I heard Joepel talking to the man. Later we asked Joepel what he told him. Joepel told the man that if he came to church he could be baptized the way Christ was baptized. But he'd have to stop drinking and wearing earrings first. Sister Nanlabi and I laughed a little and I told Joepel he's ready to serve a mission when he turns 18 in 4 years.

It was 4th of July so we sang the Star Spangled Banner and played with some glow in the dark stuff. Happy beLATEd birthday America!

We did lots of hiking in the mountains this week. We're a little sore but it's all worth it. Another funny thing is one of the investigators always asks where Oregon is and I say California and he always always brings up Hotel California (the song) he's also my favorite person this week. He's been waiting patiently to be baptized for almost a year now and still keeps going to church and praying and reading his scriptures.

Anyway love you all! Thanks for all your prayers!
Sister Bingham
