Week 51 (Cauayan)

MAAYONG AGA

So this week was a great week full of me seeing the hand of God in my life and I felt the support of angels and your prayers so thank you thank you gid! There have been many times where I talked to people on the tricycle or I just know what questions to ask people or I don't have to search for words in conversation or teaching and I look back and ask myself how that's even possible that I did that? I know that it isn't me, but God is working through me. I'm just the instrument, just the pencil, and I'm so glad for the opportunity to be used to help the people in Cauayan.

I have been doing lots of cooking this week :) I hope I can cook things in America but how to find the ingredients?

Lots happened but like always, I don't have enough time to tell all that happened so just here's a small story that struck me:
We were teaching Sister Aileen and Brother Andy about the law of tithing because they are very poor and we were trying to figure out what would best help them. I felt that we needed to teach about the law of tithing. At first, I was a little apprehensive, because of course they are really poor, how would they respond to this commandment? How was I supposed to ask them to give 10% of their small income to Christ and His church? In the end, I decided that I knew this law was a commandment of God and that this would bring them blessings both temporal and spiritual that they needed especially at this time in their life.
So we taught the lesson and I was surprised to see how humbly they accepted the law. Even excitedly. When I invited them to live the law of tithing, Sister Aileen just said "I probably can't pay it this week right cause we have the district conference but can I pay it next week?" and then talked about the story of the woman who gave the last of her food for her and her son to a prophet of God and then she was blessed with more food than she needed, filling every pot they had. I was struck by her faith and willingness to live the gospel. She knew that by paying her tithing, she and her family would be taken care of.

We had Sipalay District Conference yesterday and it was fun to see members from all over the district! The messages were all about ministering and how we can be better at it to help those less-active or not yet members as well as active members!

Sister Bingham pumping the bomba.  They don't have running water in the house so this water is used for many purposes including laundry.  They did get washing machines a few weeks ago so they wash them in the washing machine and then rinse them outside and then dry them in the spinner than hang them outside to dry the last few min
