Week 53 (Cauayan)

MAAYONG AGAAAAAA!

Can I just take a moment and tell you all that I LOVE being a missionary? I LOVE the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I LOVE the people I'm serving right here in Cauayan. You can ask my companion how many times I said I LOVE missionary work this week haha. I hope all of you who are able to serve will do so because this week I really saw how I have changed and how my testimony has grown. I can honestly say that I have NO doubts about this Church. NOT EVEN ONE. I still have questions and wonder things but none of those things affect the knowledge I have that this is truly Christ's church upon the earth. I know there is a God who loves us and has a plan for us and is trying to get us to do the right thing by sending us things like prophets and scriptures and leaders and people who teach us the gospel and then there's the Holy Ghost to help guide us and I just can't even list all the things He has sent to help us. The most important is His Only Begotten Son who paid the price for us to have the opportunity to come back to the presence of the Father and live in everlasting happiness with Him and His Son.

So here's some stories from this week:
We also went to Kabankalan on Monday so there are some pictures there. We had a branch activity on Saturday cause it's Family Day in the Philippines. It was lots of fun and even the Erna family came!!!

We had a surprise Mission Tour! Sister Cordon, the YW General President came and so did Elder Wakolo, 2nd counselor in the Area Presidency. It was so cool to hear them speak and we even heard Elder Wakolo's conversion story which was great and you'll have to ask me about it another time. It was great to see all the other missionaries I know and take some pictures! That night we stayed in the hosting apartment cause I was sick but we were able to go get some dinner with Sister Bown and Sister Clarke (MTC District). We ate at a place called Los Tres Amigos (Yeah that's right REAL MEXICAN FOOD IN THE PHILIPPINES) I got a taco salad and it was the most delicious thing. So that's how Sister Clarke and I celebrated our one year in the mission :)

So that Monday, this cat had her babies in our front yard and we're not allowed to have pets so we just left them alone. And then the next day we found the kittens on our porch (cause of all the rain, the mom must've brought them there for shelter) and it was really sad cause they were just mewing. But then we went to Bacolod for the mission tour and when we came back. They were dead. All 5 of them. It was really gross and smelled terrible. We called the Branch President and he just told us not to worry, he'd come over and take care of it. And he did and we are eternally indebted to him. I'm so grateful for leaders in the church that no matter how busy they are they always have time to serve in small ways.

So last Saturday we were teaching our regular investigators and there was this guy kinda sitting in the back who was listening but I didn't think much of it but Elder Willis was like "Hey come join the lesson" I invited them all to come to church, including this man, and he came to church that next day!!! I was so surprised! His name is Benjie and he's probably like 30. We didn't get a chance to teach him this last week because of the mission tour and other people we had to teach but we stopped by on Saturday and invited him to church again. He came to church and we taught him after church and he was going to go fishing (that's his work) but he had some time so we taught him and then said thank you for your time, you can go do your work now and we'll just teach our other investigators (we teach them in the same spot...). But he didn't go to his boat. I said brother you can go if you need to and he said no, he wasn't going to go fishing today and I asked why? and he said cause we're studying (we were reading the Book of Mormon with our other investigators). That shocked me. But then when his workmates came to help him put his boat in the ocean HE TOLD HIS WORKMATES THAT HE WASN'T GOING TO FISH BECAUSE ITS SUNDAY and I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Because they were all like what do you mean you aren't going fishing? they tried to get him to go but he just said no it's Sunday and he's studying the Word of God. He's going to be baptized I just know it :) we're going to meet his mom and son this Wednesday. I'll update you next week.

Love you all! talk to you next week!
