Week 58 (Bacolod)
MAAYONG AGA SA INYO TANAN! (Good morning to you all!)
So this week was full as always. Here are some quick highlights:
SORE EYES:
We gave the training again in Bata District and it went well except I had very sore eyes that day so I was half blind and looked like I was crying the whole time. Sister Clarke had "sore eyes" last week and then passed to me. My eyes were very red and very swollen and it felt like I had been crying for a whole day. We went to the doctor who gave me eye drops and didn't charge a copay because the "LDS" (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) had helped him. He told us to convert all the "bad" Catholics but not the good Catholics. And then talked about China and America having a trade war. It was an interesting trip. But, missionaries that we are, we left him a pamphlet about the Restoration of the Gospel :)
We tried to work despite my eyes, and this kid, who's part of a family we are teaching, he's 11 and his name is Joshua. And he is the happiest kid I know. Always smiling. Always excited to see us. And so when we saw him, he came running over with that big grin on his face and then he saw my eyes and his smile just fell. And he stared at me with a shocked and like he'd seen a ghost look. That was when we decided maybe this was more harm than good.
EXCHANGES:
Sister Burkhardt (MTC District) and I were companions for a day because of exchanges! I still had sore eyes and she told me I looked like Anakin from the 3rd movie. I thought I looked like Darth Vader from the last movie when they take off his helmet... We visited some new members and it was cute to see, despite them being 12 and 8 how well they listened to Sister Burkhardt teach.
BROTHER CAMILO:
So Brother Mil got baptized this week! He was invited by a member to come to church and he did and has been coming for months now but only this transfer were we able to find time for him to hear the lessons (he has a really busy work schedule) and get baptized! He's so amazing and understands everything we teach him and he just knew immediately that this is the truth!
At his baptism he bore an amazing testimony! He talked about how when he came up out of the water he felt something he's never felt in all his years as a pastor at another church. He said he heard a voice that told him "This is it, this is my kingdom." and I got chills! Then he talked about how enduring to the end is often where people fall short but he promised then and there that he would continue until the end. He and Sister Gingging were confirmed yesterday and welcomed to Bacolod 2nd Ward. I'm so happy for them and their decision to get baptized and that they know the truth in their minds and can feel it in their hearts! These are the reasons I love being a missionary!
That's about all my time for this week but kitaay kits sa dason!
