Week 66 (Bacolod)

Merrry Christmas/ Malipayong Paskwa!!!

This week we handed out invitations (creds to Sister Clarke for making them) for the Christmas Sacrament Meeting and the Ward Christmas Party. We got a list of prospective elders (meaning they are able to be ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood but haven't yet, usually because they are less active or a new member) and set to work. It was like a scavenger hunt :) and we were so happy to see lots of these less active families at church on Sunday and were warmly welcomed by the members.

We had our Mission Christmas Devotional and wow what a blast it was. Sister Clarke and I gave a training that was festive, fun, and educational. We led 2 games (Do you love your neighbor? and we sang 12 days of Christmas while doing actions) that were a HIT, everyone was laughing so hard, even President and Sister Sumagpao joined in! And we performed in 2 musical numbers, one with our zone and the other a piano/violin duet (see videos). It was so sadjya gid (fun)! President and Sister Sumagpao gave out Christmas presents to all the missionaries and they talked about missing their families and the Manila Temple lighting President used to be in charge of. This is their first Christmas as our mission president. We are so grateful for their love and sacrifice and willingness to serve the Lord and us. We love President and Sister Sumagpao!

We also handed out a different invitation this week. There is this Mexican food restaurant called Los Trez Amigos in our area and the owner is a Puerto Rican who grew up in New York and we're friends. He recruited us to help in a service project for Christmas day. We hand out invitations to families who are really really in need and he prepares a Christmas lunch and gets presents for the children and gives the family things like rice. It was the best to hand them out and see people we love so much light up with joy as we gave them a Christmas they wouldn't have had beforehand :) Kinda felt like Santa Claus

I had to give a talk yesterday in church and I talked about Holly Bruno and her family and their motto of "Love is Everywhere" even in the face of great trial and grief. I explained how the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is not only did He suffer for our sins but also for our pains, afflictions, and temptations. In our Christmas season we remember His birth and His gift of the Atonement. We have no way to pay Him back for his suffering for our sake. All we can do is show our love for Him, show our gratefulness by keeping His commandments. To always remember that His love really is everywhere and all He asks is for us to come unto Him and accept his outstretched hand. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He was born for us and that now, He lives for us. He is constantly waiting for you to turn to him. "Return to me and I will return unto you" He says.

Merry Christmas to all! I love you all very much and I know Heavenly Father and Christ are aware of you this Christmas season!
